We are taking a risk by releasing our album as a season with each episode consisting of 4 tracks by the same producer. The reason it's risky, is because it will probably be hard to get much press, I mean honestly, is 4 tracks enough to write a review on? As an indie group with no budget to promote ourselves, we rely heavily on those reviews to support our albums.
From an artistic perspective, it made perfect sense. We have the luxury of working with many talented producers, who all bring a certain flavor to the table. Rather then try and mesh all of their specific sounds into one cohesive album, we thought we'd try this approach. What it has allowed us to do creatively, is really play to each producers style and let the producer have a voice! That is an important piece to the 'making good music' puzzle, in our opinion.
The other thing that it will do for us, is keep us in your stereo box more regularly. The trouble with making an album, is it is only new for a few weeks (months?), but it takes a long time to put together (when done properly). Rather then have here one day, and gone the next (and preventing the alternative of releasing a mixtape every few months to stay relevant), we decided on the idea of releasing a 'Season' of music. Episodes will release beginning on 11.30.10, and will be released every 6 weeks after that, until Season 1 is over... Because we did our homework, and are fully finished with the first Season, we have already started working on Season 2 and will be able to bring that to your ears soon after Season 1 (and so on).
We're excited as hell about our new project and we hope you are too! What do you think of the way we are releasing this album?
